Values Quotes – Carl Jung on Understanding

Today’s quote is from Carl Jung, the famous Swiss psychiatrist who first developed the concept of ‘archetypes’ used in modern marketing, and whose theories formed the basis of the popular Myers-Briggs assessment tool.

A great quote from Jung is:

Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.”

Carl Jung spent his whole life trying to “understand” people. He discovered a key to understanding people starts with ourselves.

As a value, Understanding means comprehension or assimilation of knowledge; perceptive; and sympathy.

Have you ever considered adding “understanding” to your list of differentiating values? If you enjoy learning more about people – including yourself – this is value for you. And you don’t have to be a psychiatrist to use it.

    • Sounds like a good learning experience. Thanks for sharing.
