What’s the Utility of Marriage?

There is less need today than ever before to get married. Or so it would seem.

Both men and women can survive quite nicely alone, if they so choose. The potential is there to earn your own money and take care of all your own personal needs without the help of anyone else. And if you want sex, it’s not difficult to find a willing partner.

Even if you desire to have your “own” child, many individuals have found creative ways to have one without the need of a permanent partner.

In other words, the utility of marriage seems to be disappearing.
