Values Quotes – Thomas Fuller on Health
Todays quote is from Thomas Fuller, an English churchman, author and historian from the 1600s.
A prolific writer, Fuller was a master with words. And everyone understood his message.
One of his many quotes was:
“Sickness is felt, but health not at all.”
Here, Fuller was talking about the value of health.
As a differentiating value, Health means free from infirmity or disease; or a state of wellbeing.
To be free of disease is a gift many of us value, when we don’t have it. And we tend to only appreciate the state of wellbeing when it is beyond our grasp.
Why is that? As Fuller points out, health is something one cannot feel.
But sickness can be felt. And it is when we are sick that we most appreciate the value of health.
So, if you are not sick or feeling sick today, be thankful. You’re experiencing a truly invisible gift!
