Does Your About Page Clearly State Your Business Focus?
If you own a business, you likely have a website. Today, it’s your gateway to the world, and everyone’s window into your business.
So… does your website include an effective “About” page? And when was the last time you updated it?
Your About page is the MOST visited page on any website. It provides insights into the people who own and run the business, and equally important the organization’s focus.
As a differentiating value, Focus means concentration of attention or energy; maximum clarity.
While this should be straightforward for any business, many leaders struggle with explaining the business focus with maximum clarity – that resonates with customers. For some reason, it’s difficult to highlight where the concentration of attention and energy is being applied that makes sense to customers.
Maybe it’s because there’s a disconnect between where the focus is currently and where the leaders would “like” it to be applied. Or maybe it’s because the real focus is on what the owners want vs. what customers want.

Specific to writing the About page on your website, here are 3 things to remember:
- Be true. Only the truth, no exaggerations or slippery details.
- Be positive. There is something positive to say about every endeavor.
- Be descriptive. Forget generic. Exercise some creativity. Show your personality.
