How to get full enjoyment out of your marriage

Do and your spouse enjoy being with others? Or do you have more fun when it’s just the two of you doing something together?

Enjoyment is a value that should be a part of every marriage. Simply stated, enjoyment is the pleasure felt when having a good time; or to take delight in.

But what if you’re not having a good time. What’s the real problem?

Are you waiting to be entertained by someone else? Bad choice.

Whose responsibility is it to make you happy? Yours alone.

Can you influence and impact the amount of enjoyment you and your spouse experience in life? Absolutely.

So, if you want to get full enjoyment out of your marriage, then make it happen.

Here’s how.

  1. Reflect. Ponder over the good times you’ve had together in the past. Consider what about each event or activity made it fun. Leverage your past experiences to create new and even better experiences.
  2. Plan. Don’t plan just one event. Plan a set of activities or events. Create an environment of fun. Remember, spontaneous fun happens best when the right environment is present.
  3. Set criteria. Don’t set yourself up for failure. Determine what has to happen to be considered an enjoyable time. But be realistic. Make it easy to achieve. And make sure it works for both you AND your spouse.
  4. Have fun. Go do. Take full delight in it. Enjoy!!
  5. Record. Be sure to capture the (appropriate) moments on camera or video. Consider posting it online (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) to share with family and friends (providing it’s appropriate to share). This also serves as a nice reminder of the good times you’ve had when you spend time reflecting.
  6. Repeat. It’s never static. Keep it going. But be sure to learn, adapt, and try new things.

Now… have you set your next date with your spouse yet? Short on ideas?
