Values Quotes – Francis Chan on Fidelity

Todays quote is from Francis Chan, an American Preacher and author of the best-selling book “Crazy Love.”

A great quote from Chan is:
“True faith means holding nothing back. It means putting every hope in God’s fidelity to His promises.”

The golden nugget in Chan’s quote here is the insight into God’s fidelity.

As a differentiating value, Fidelity means faithfulness to one’s duties; or loyalty.

Most of the time we tend to think about our own fidelity, and how we fail to keep it. What Chan highlights is the reliability of God’s fidelity, which never fails. We can always rely on God’s faithfulness and loyalty in fulfilling ALL of His promises.

For instance, just consider that with the arrival of Jesus, many different promises highlighted in the Old Testament were fulfilled. That one single event fulfilled many promises. Want proof? If you search the Gospels, you’ll find no less than 16 references to the promises in scripture being fulfilled by the presence and activity of Jesus.

But what does this mean for us, today?

God promised, through His Son, to be with us always; to respond to everyone who asks, seeks, and knocks at His door; and to send His Son again to take us to be where His is. Can we trust in God’s fidelity that He will fulfill these promises too? We can count on it!
